"September 30, 2019 - 17 - "Nice Feet"

I guess you’ve probably been waiting anxiously for this moment when I would finally address the issue of feet beautification.  (Clearly my only blog theme seems to be 'What's swirling around my brain today'.   I've been thinking about feet, so here we are...talking about feet.)

Possibly this will completely gross you out.  There are many views of feet in this world;  from people with foot fetishes to those on the opposite end of the spectrum who can't even bear the mention of the word 'feet'.

I'm pretty neutral about feet.  I mean, I am tremendously grateful to have them.  They get me around this big ol' world very admirably.  I like them to look nice in sandals.  I like them not to hurt.  That's about the extent of my thoughts about feet.

I should probably leave this subject to Michael.  Michael has opinions on feet.  Well, really, just the one overriding opinion.  He believes himself to have unusually attractive feet.  So nice, in fact, that he feels sorry for everyone else for having less fabulous feet.

Maybe I’ll let Michael do a guest post on the topic at some point.  But, then again, I might be the exact right person to discuss the issue.  I, as a mere mortal with regular feet, can only aspire to nicer feet, while Michael was born with perfect ones.

Seriously, I have discovered a product that works miracles to get your feet looking their best.  It's a foot peel thing that takes your feet from rough and callous-y to soft and lovely.

It's a foot mask that peels about 30 gagillion layers of skin off your feet.  Not sure how it knows when to stop, and believe me I thought of that during this process.  So, ya know, use at your own risk.

The package directions tell you to do a sensitivity test.  We, of course, did not do this as we are Incredibly Strong and Brave people.  (In other words:  Impatient and Impulsive.)  I don't have any kind of affiliate deal with Amazon, but just to tell you what the product is and where you can get it here's a picture and a link.

We used a product called Plantifique Fresh Peach Foot Peel Mask.  Right now they have it listed for $13.09 for a 2-pack.  It cost a lot more when we got it a few months back.  Not sure why.

     Notes:
-Timing is everything.  Plan to wear covered shoes for about 2 weeks before you do the big reveal with those strappy sandals or flip-flops.
-Julie Farrell, an Amazon reviewer called this product "Amazing - And a little frightening."  That about sums it up.

So, do this about 2 weeks before you want your feet to be extra-great looking and feeling:  Soak your feet for 30 minutes.  (One of the reviews gave this Pro tip:  Put heavy moisturizer on your feet for a few days prior to using the mask and it will remove even more dead skin.) We did soak a long time, but we did not do the extra-moisture for days ahead.  (See above regarding our Impulsive and Impatient natures.)  Put your feet in the little booties of liquid and tape them to your ankles.  Sit around and let them do their magic.  (See instructions and online reviews for more details.)

After you do the mask you wait.  And wait.  And wait...  And it seems like nothing is going to happen and you've wasted your money.  The product description says it will take 3-7 days to start peeling.  I think it started around Day 5 for both of us.

Before the peeling starts it'll first make your feet really dry-feeling.  They say not to put lotion on when you get to this stage.  That was the hardest part for me.  I'm a lotion addict.  The skin looks kind of tight and gray and itches a bit, and the desire to slather on the thickest moisturizer you can find is strong.  Resist this urge.

Then the peeling begins.  This is the frightening part.  Layers of dead skin come off of your feet in sheets.  A lot of it.  And you will start to wonder if it's ever going to stop.

They tell you not to peel it yourself, just let it happen.  I'd love to meet the person with the self-discipline to just watch this happen.  I could not resist some peeling and scrubbing along the way.

It seemed like the peeling went on forever.  But, really, I think it was more or less peeling from about Day 5 to about Day 11.  The majority is about 5-8, but it does keep peeling.  (Results may vary...again, this was our experience.)

But, after all this grief, you have the most beautiful, baby-soft, feet.

It really is like Julie said on Amazon:  "Amazing - And a little bit frightening."

Kevin Vallick (Michael Keaton):    "Thanks.  Well, you know, I work out."
