February 13, 2020 - 153 - "Ferocious Beasts"

Carrying Ferocious Beasts Across International Borders

I was feeling optimistic yesterday that I could get Ella to Mexico.  I was so happy thinking she wouldn't be left alone in the house.  (With her good friend, and our neighbor, checking in daily...but still.  She's accustomed to a lot of interaction when we're home.)

So, this trip is long enough to make it worth the effort.  There are no huge home projects going on there, so she'll have time to settle in.  It's the perfect time.  We won't have to miss her.  She won't have to miss us.  We'll all be happy and it will go great.

2nd Thoughts

One look at her this morning and I thought:  This flight is gonna make the papers.

Considering the rules of media these days:  If it bleeds...it leads.

This could make news around the world.

She doesn't like cars of any sort.  She doesn't like to leave home.  She's violent, by nature.

Only a couple of days ago Ella was lounging in my lap purring contentedly.  (As was I.) There was a sound outside.  Ella cocked her ears and turned her head quickly.  As she did she caught sight of the phone in my hand.  The phone had been there for the past few minutes, as I was doing Spanish lessons on it.  But somehow she forgot this fact in her panic over the noise outside.

You would have thought that phone was a rabid hyena coming after her in the wilds.  She launched off of me in horror and tore through the house, fleeing the incredible danger she perceived my phone to be.

I received some pretty dramatic lacerations on my belly (through my clothes!)  Michael later said they looked like Japanese letters.  I wouldn't put it past Ella to know Japanese.  I should get my belly translated.  For all I know it could say:  Death to Humans!

This fun family adventure to Mexico could be a blood bath.

All prayers, suggestions, and drugs welcome.
