Look Up
I've been doing a class on Daily Om about clearing things, by Stephanie Bennett Vogt. It's about both mental and physical clutter.)
One lesson was titled: Look Up. It said: "Look up from this screen for a moment and scan the room you're in. What is one thing of beauty that calls your attention?"
I looked around and saw this pot sitting on the nightstand:
Somehow the blue in the pillow sham picked up the blues in the pot, and I suddenly thought it was gorgeous.
It sat in the cutout between the upstairs hallway and the dining room for a very long time, and I never liked it. That was probably partly because it seemed a little small to fill the space, and partially because it was usually covered in a thick layer of dust.
But what really struck me was how different something can look when you move it from one place to another.
I Guess That Applies To Us Too
We can be a gangly misfit in one setting, and a beautiful swan in another.
We flourish and feel fulfilled in one relationship and shrivel in another.
We flourish and feel fulfilled in one relationship and shrivel in another.
Fresh Eyes
The strangest thing is; once you see beauty in something you can't see it as ugly again. I found an old picture of it in the spot where I thought it looked terrible...and really liked it.
Daily Hits of Happy
-It's been sunny and cool all day. About 15 minutes ago, a dramatic storm kicked up. Not sure where we can watch rain here. (No covered front porch.)
-Michael's here, and we can check out the options together.

-Our vision for the rooftop bedroom and bath (which we optimistically call a casita) is coming together...and actually starting to show among the rubble.
