Reality - What Is
I am continuously awed by the creative process involved in renovation. My overriding feeling when I look back on projects is amazement that anything comes out as envisioned.
And I'm shocked to see how bad the 'Before' pictures looked. In my mind, things always look like the end result...not the steps along the way.

Here's yet another example of my blindness to the 'real' reality:
This is what our rooftop bathroom looks like right now:

Reality - What Was
Today's version of reality is a lot better than when this end of the rooftop was first annexed for a bathroom.
There was this cupola built above the bathroom below it. (Because everyone wants windows to view from the rooftop right into their bathroom, right?)
So we were thrilled when we got update-pictures and saw the bedroom wall knocked out, and a bathroom wall built to the left, thus revealing our first real glimpse of the shape of the new bathroom.

Reality - What Came Next
So, though to some this might look like a war zone when we got this next photo. We were thrilled by the pile of rubble because it meant we no longer had a cupola in the middle of the bathroom. (Wow. There really is enough space for a bathroom there!)
It was the next step to make way for a smooth floor...

Even Though
We've yet to receive the order of tile that looks like this...
I know it will happen soon.
