October 14, 2019 - 31 - "Post-iversary!"

First off, I need to take a break from typing for a second... ......................

Okay, I'm back.  Sorry 'bout that but my arm was busy patting myself on the back.

Woohoo!  Go me!  31 days of posts in a row!  This new "post-every-day" plan is really working!!!!   (
"One should never use exclamation points in writing.  It is like laughing at your own joke." -Mark Twain)

Sorry, Mark, you know I love you more than my multi-colored highlighter pens, but Go Me!!!

I'm excited.  Seems the more I post, the more ideas I have.  I guess the Lord and the Writing Gods all "help those who help themselves".  It turns out, for me anyway,  it's a whole lot easier to write daily than weekly.  It seems to keep the momentum going.

It's definitely a challenge.  But I'm really liking it.  In this past month I've written through 5 work trips and two personal trips.  It's been keeping me on my toes, but I'm inordinately proud to say that I'm getting it done.

It truly feels like what I'm supposed to do. 31 days ago I stated publicly that I was going to write daily.   (DAILY!) . That felt like the stupidest thing in the world to make an announcement about.

Years ago, when I was posting weekly, it was soooo hard.  How could I possibly do it daily?

It was a leap of faith.  I did it because I also remember that doing the work, though tough, also felt right.

This actually felt even more right.  It's kind of like when you finally meet the right person after years of wrong wrong wrong ones.  Your friends think you're a nut for saying 'this is the one' so early in the game.  But, somehow, you know.

I've tinkered with a lot of different writing forms.  Tried to make writing easier on myself but sometimes it's making something harder that causes you to rise to the challenge.  This was one of those times.

Right now (almost wrote 'Write now' - hee he) I have something like 93 posted pieces (52 from those weekly posts) and 74 in progress!  Every time I write something I end up with an idea or two for other posts.  I have to work to keep whittling down each post to just one idea, instead of a whole lot of random thoughts.  (I have more success with this some days than others.)

It feels so cool to have all these back-up ideas.  When I wrote weekly I got waaaay too serious and heavy about the whole thing.  Now I just figure:  'eh...if I don't hit it today...there's always tomorrow for fixing it or writing a better one.'

I did start out this time feeling damn nervous.  I was anxious about my ability to maintain this pace and more than a little chicken about what I might end up sharing.

But, so far so great.   I'm really having fun with it.

This has given me some confidence in this process and instead of hoping no one is actually reading my stuff, I can now honestly and comfortably say:  Feel free to 'like', 'comment', 'share', or...I don't know...what else is there?  Follow*?...

And please share your ideas for something to write in the future.  'Daily' is 365 days in a year, so I'm gonna need a lot of inspiration.

Housekeeping thing:  I finally found the page that has email subscribers on it and was surprised there were so many left from back in '13 when I did the weekly post challenge.  (Thanks for that, everyone!)  Michael says he gets emails announcing each new post.  I hope it's not spamming anyone.  I have no idea how that part works.  Turn on your email filters if it gets annoying with all this daily sharing stuff.

Anyway,  thank you so much for being here!  I appreciate you.  XOXOXO!
