March 10, 2020 - 179 - "La Gata (The Cat) in Mexico"

     This past visit to San Miguel was such a 'win' in our life with Ella.   We always hated leaving her when we travel, and missed her when we were gone, and worried about her until we got back.  But she hated leaving home so much, even for a short trip to the vet., we thought we'd never be able to bring her to San Miguel with us.   

      It so warmed my heart to have her with us and see her making this place her own.

     I'm glad we were finally able to try it and thrilled, in spite of a few bumps getting her here and settled in, that she's made the house her home.

    She explored every inch of the house-tentatively at first, but with ever-growing confidence.  

   She even evolved some hiding places to call her own.  This was where she napped while we watched TV, or I worked out.   

     But she was even more ready than usual to come lie down on us.  Things scared her and she'd run to find one of us.

















     It's become pretty clear that, more than a physical location; we are her home.












     She feels safest...and the most ready to nap...when resting on one of us.

   


















    This made me think of a Billy Joel song, which I previously thought was a song of romance between a man and a woman...but now see is a thank you note from a rescue cat to the humans she has chosen to serve her....

     And I just feel so lucky that she chose us to do her bidding.  :-)
