Michael and I have always liked Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson in a random kind of way.  We periodically re-watch "Sleepless in Seattle" and sometimes joke about a scene the two of them shared in it.  In the movie Rita Wilson is Tom Hanks' sister.  The movie "An Affair to Remember" comes up and Rita starts crying just thinking about the tragic story of romance-gone-wrong.

Tom Hanks', his brother-in-law, and his son (in the movie), all look at each other in confusion.  Finally one of them says:  "That's a chick's movie!"  Then Tom Hanks makes fun of her by getting all emotional about the final scene from "The Dirty Dozen".   Here's that brilliant scene for your viewing pleasure:  https://youtu.be/coOYa4h98M4

So, yeah, who doesn't like them, right?  They seem pretty cool and chill.  Plus they're a movie industry couple who's been married for, like, 32 years.  What's not to like?

So we were sad to hear they'd gotten Covid-19, but figured they'd be fine...and at least they got to be quarantined together.  I figured they'd entertain each other, as we would in a similar circumstance.  (Oh yeah...as we've been doing, since I haven't seen anyone but Michael when I'm not at work, for the last three weeks.)

But Tom Hanks tweet made me realize they are our way-more-rich and famous couple-twinsies:

     a) He's fond of his old typewriter.  (I have two of these around the house), and

    b)  Gin is our game of choice to play, laugh, and bicker over.

I carry cards in my purse and we play regularly at home, on airplanes, in cafes, bars, and restaurants around the world.  Unfortunately, it's been Michael on a winning streak at our house.  I am very, very, bitter about this.

However, I (finally) won a hand last night.  I'm thinking I won't play any more for a while.  I want to quit while I'm behind.

*I should probably research this quote for another post
