June 4, 2020 - 265 - "Full Of Hot Air: A Hair Styling Product Review"

Not Stuck in My Ways After All?

In most areas of life, I think I'm open to new things.  In general, I think I'm pretty optimistic.

But that all goes out the window when any concepts of new hair or beauty products come along.   In those instances, I assume they won't work and will be a waste of money.

It sounds pretty cynical when I write it out, but there really is a lot of extra hype in the advertising for those types of products.

Old Dog...New Trick!

Revlon Salone One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer.
Revlon Salone One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer.
(Costs around $55 to $60.)

But then I found this gadget!

I'm in this online group of women that discuss all things appearance-oriented.  It's mainly about clothes and outfits...but discussions of makeup or hair products also come up.

One day, someone mentioned hairdryer thing, and about 4 dozen women jumped in and said they loved it.  The term "life-changing" kept getting thrown around.

My last big hair styling update involved going from a hairdryer followed by a curling iron, to a hairdryer followed by a flat iron.  Either way works okay, but I kind of hate to deal with my hair.  Anything that has so many people saying it speeds up the process sounds like a good idea to me.

Here's a review I saw alongside the photos of the Revlon Salone One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer.
It cracked me up.  Mainly because I could have given this "TED Talk".

 One Step Wonder

What I like about this is I can start with a mixture of curls, waves, and straightness, with some frizzy thrown in for good measure - on semi-dirty or fresh washed hair, and can get the lumps and bumps out with just one hair appliance.

There's no brush-in-one-hand-hairdryer-in-the-other mayhem.  It's just the one thing.

It straightens, curls under the ends (or up if you wanted), and it also smoothes out the frizz and leaves some shine.  No second step needed.  Yeehaw!!

It works like a charm!  (I would only note that my hair is very fine.  I prefer to let it dry on its own, and then I use this to smooth and style.  Even with my hair, it takes a long time to dry with this dryer.  I'm not sure it would work on thicker hair.)

Passing on the Good News

I just thought I'd share what I consider to be a stroke of good fortune.  Anything that makes hair-doing easier is a big boon to my life.
