June 8, 2020 - 269 - "My Favorite YouTube Channel"

YouTube Addict

I love YouTube and can't quite remember how I learned things before.  You can learn

anything on YouTube - from how to clean under your refrigerator, to Spanish lessons, how to

henna your hair, to the coolest pub on a particular leg of the Cornish Coast Walk you might take

someday.

YouTube Personalities

I usually am interested in a particular topic when I check out YouTube, so I'm usually subject-matter focused and not that swayed by personality.  I have listened to how-to videos where the person doing the video doesn't even speak English.  If there are enough visuals and they go slowly enough...it's possible to learn almost anything...from anyone.

Fan of Rachel

I make an exception for Rachel, the Messy Minimalist.

She doesn't post very often, but for years now, every time I get on the treadmill, I check to see if she's got a new one.  When she does, I am ecstatic.

She's just so authentic.  She's talking about clearing, decluttering, and all-around streamlining your life...so I love the subject matter, but I think she could speak about auto repair, and I'd find her fascinating.

She and her husband, Dan, quit corporate life to live more simply.  They bought an old motel on Lake Michigan, and started a family.  That's where things got really messy...and she started her YouTube Channel.

In her own words:  "We're done "living for a better tomorrow."  We want a better today."

She's got a really fresh perspective on things and a fun approach to life.  To give you an idea of how much I like her:  She used the term lazy Susan in one of her early videos...and, I didn't mind a bit. Lol.

If you didn't pick up that link above...here it is again.  Messy Minimalist My favorite parts are the fast-forward clearing videos and how she'll slow it down and show you some random thing she's kept for 15 years...she has terrific expressions that say so clearly:  "Why am I keeping this crap?!"

Check out her channel.  She's great.
