April 21, 2020 - 221 - "Decluttering Heaven"

Is There Clutter in Heaven?

I meant the title of this post ("Decluttering Heaven") to refer to how happy I am to have time off to focus on clearing out extraneous junk and organizing what's left.  I'm loving getting the house into its most functional and streamlined condition.

But when I look at that title again it sounds like the post is meant to talk about decluttering heaven, itself.   (Sheesh!  All those old and tarnished halos, the harps without strings, and robes that fit before moving into heaven and finding manna was available 24/7...)

This begs the question:  Would there actually be clutter in heaven?

Personalized Paradise

It's sort of proof (if you're not too picky about how you define 'proof') that heaven would have to be an extremely personalized place.

I mean, if someone's a minimalist the answer would have to be a definite: nope.  No clutter in heaven!  Heaven for them would probably be one vast expanse of clean, clear, open space.

For someone who likes to be surrounded by a cozy conglomeration of crap-tastic collectibles (excuse the neatnik value judgment).  These people would definitely need their Franklin Mint doll and plate collections to feel like they were in heaven.

For me, heaven would also have clutter, too.  But it would only be there to give me the opportunity to whip it all into shape.   My heaven would also, of course, involve an unlimited account at that heaven-within-a-heaven:  the big Container Store in the sky!  (Ooo...that gets me all misty!)

Heaven On Earth

Considering that this is my idea of heaven, I'm noticing that I'm pretty much there.  (Only difference is my more frugal Amazon and Target versions of the organizing manna that the Container Store offers.
