The Bad News...

     I'll give you the bad news about our remodeling project first.  

     The once-lovely studio on the roof of the house now looks like this:

     And this is how the "luxury ensuite bathroom" we're planning for looks now:

     Glamorous, no?  Are you packing your bags right now to come stay here?

The  Good  Freaking Amazing News...

     The rooftop created by raising and flattening, the studio roof is spectacular.  Actually, it's just unfinished concrete right now, but the views you get from there make it hard to notice any problems.  

     I feel like we live by The Vatican.

     I love this quote so much that I'm just going to include this in the middle of the post.    It's precisely how we feel.  

     We had fiercely loved the way this house 'will look someday,' long before we even owned the house.  

     Sometimes I think we use a weird form of iron will and dreamy imagination to just force things into being.  Despite language barriers, costs beyond expectations, hours of labor, layers of dirt on everything, the blood, the sweat, the tears...the snot and dust-black boogers...

     To me, it's always a foregone conclusion that, given time, our exact vision will eventually be.  

     I'm not saying we don't sometimes lose sight of the end-game when we're in the midst of it.  Believe me, we do.  But mainly:  we know the vision is always on it's way to being..)

     P.S.  I won that round of gin rummy on the rooftop.

Daily Hits of Happy

     -Our fridge is making ice!  (Yahoooooo!  No more refilling ice trays like the old fridge.)

     -I managed to set up an online account with a local supermarket, place the order, pay for the order, and the groceries are, theoretically, going to arrive between 2 and 3 o'clock today.

     -I had an online tutoring session yesterday, with a sweet girl named Jelisa, and I think this will do wonders for taking all the memorized vocabulary words and conjugation rules, and making it into a language I can actually communicate with.   (Fingers crossed.)
