August 17, 2020 - 339 - "Music For The Cat"

Keeping the Cat Calm

It's pretty noisy around here these days.

There's a lot of work happening on the rooftop.  It sort of echoes down:  Concrete is being chipped away to level a floor, remove a chimney, or open up space for a window.

It's all making Ella pretty upset.

If Ella Ain't Happy...

During the loudest parts of the day, Ella has three behaviors that she rotates between:

          -Pacing back and forth

-"Hiding" under this table.  (She seems to think she's invisible when she's in there.):

-Or vocalizing her noise complaints to me...noisily.

YouTube to the Rescue

I've heard that there are specific frequencies that help raise or calm our energies, and it occurred to me that there might be some kind of calming music or sounds I could play for her.

I typed a few words into the search bar on YouTube and...Voila!   Many choices for Kitty Comfort music appear.

I started playing "Pet Therapy:  Over 22 Hours of Soothing Music for Cats".  It's on a Channel called "Brainwave Music.

There May Be Something to This Type of Music

Ella immediately came out from under the table, jumped up on the couch, and passed out.  And she's barely moved a muscle for the past hour or more.

That's the good news.  The bad news is it's working on me too.  I'm about to break my nose as I nod dramatically desk-ward.

I'd better go help Ella nap.  I'm mean:  It's only fair...she's always willing to do the same for me.

Daily Hits of Happy

-All this banging has created three cool windows that will be filled with translucent glass blocks to bring light into the rooftop bathroom.
-I think the entire new stairs and roof will be tiled by Wednesday or Thursday.  (Things are happening!)
make a window over.  out and tiles being cut
-Made a real-deal full-on meal in our kitchen last night.  Yummy!
