Life Before Waze...

I barely remember life before GPS.  It's so strange to think of consulting maps and asking friends, family, and even random strangers in gas stations how to get somewhere.

Michael and I used to map out road trips on an actual...map.  We have a Rand-McNally atlas that has gotten us to a lot of great destinations.  We used to carefully plan the route we'd take, then add in side-trips to various points of interest along the way.

The last time I looked at that atlas it looked like a relic from another age.

It's all so strange to think of now.  I can barely go to the grocery store without turning on the Waze app.

Letting An App Chart My Course

These days I regularly set out on journeys, both big and small, without the least idea how I'm going to get to my destination.

But that's not a problem;  Waze almost always knows the fastest way to get me where I'm going.  It knows where the police are, where the traffic jams are, and where there's construction.

The Journey Does Count

So, sure, you have to know the right destination for you, but most journeys are more pleasant without sitting in traffic, getting tickets, or getting rerouted to random places because of construction.
